STUFF IN THE MAIL
Do you love the idea of email newsletters but resent increasing screen time? Do you value the work of artists and writers but want to support it away from Instagram or Gmail? Do you yearn for something more joyful & surprising than a bill dropping on your doormat?
If yes, it sounds like you’re exactly the person I created STUFF IN THE MAIL for.
STUFF IN THE MAIL is a monthly and ever-evolving postal project. Since October 2023 I’ve been sending S.I.T.M subscribers something physical in the post every month. Why? Because I like getting stuff in the mail. And in the words of Eileen Myles, a career is just giving yourself prompts. Every month I give myself a little prompt – a structure within which to write, play, experiment.
This project is grounded in the fact that progress comes from small, everyday hopeful acts repeated over and over again. It’s a way to stay connected outside of the internet.
Previous editions of STUFF IN THE MAIL have included: exclusive writing that's not available anywhere else, found street notes turned into postcards, a Greek matchbox, nostalgic stickers, works-in-progress, unsolicited recommendations, a handmade collaged bookmark, a collection of other peoples' poems, a zine about my local recycling sorting centre.
Want to know how to sign-up for monthly editions of STUFF IN THE MAIL? Read more here. Through March 2025 I’m throwing in a FREE set of my compost postcards as a sign-up gift <3.
S.I.T.M follows a long tradition of postal newsletters and art and postcard projects. One of my influences was Isabel Neviasky’s brilliant POSTWORKS project which they summed up as ‘artworks activated by Royal Mail.’
